The Whitin Five will be an in person race unless the State of Massachusetts says that road races cannot be held due to the pandemic. If that were to happen, the race will become a virtual event and you will be sent a link to submit your time. Also, your tee shirt will be mailed to your home so be sure to enter an accurate address and tee shirt size. Please enter by November 4th to be guaranteed a tee shirt. Be sure to follow any safety protocols in place at the time of the race. Wear your mask if you are not vaccinated please. We are doing our best to put on a traditional Whitin Five event, but the pandemic may dictate some changes.
Please enter by November 4th to be guaranteed a long sleeve cotton tee shirt. Because of covid and delays in getting products, it is necessary to order the shirts on November 5th so we will have them in time for the race. Race number and tee shirt pick up is Wednesday evening before the race at the Whitin Community Center from 5-7 PM. Sizes are not guaranteed so come early to pick the size you want at bib pick up. If the race becomes virtual, you will get the size you chose upon registration.

You can choose to run any course, anywhere between November 14th and November 30th. You will receive a google form to fill in your race results and send back to RaceWire. Have fun and stay safe! Your tee shirt will be mailed to you after they are printed up so be sure to enter an accurate address. Enter by November 4th to be guaranteed a shirt!
This race will benefit the Whitin Community Center and Massachusetts Audubon Society.
Long sleeved cotton tee shirts guaranteed to all who pre-register by November 4th, sizes are not guaranteed so come early to pick the size you want, Whitin Five mugs are given to the first 50 finishers and the first 10 women after the 50, race sanctioned by RRCA, hot showers and lockers in a warm building, and refreshments. Race number and tee shirt pick up is Wednesday evening before the race at the Whitin Community Center from 5-7 PM. There is free parking at the Whitin CC and on surrounding streets.
The course is USATF certified, # MA07032JK. There are mile markers and a water stop half way. The course is flat, rolling and fast. There is a video of the course on the Whitin Five website.
The race will be held rain or shine! Blizzard date is November 28 at 8:10 AM. For race updates, epecially concerning weather, go to the Whitin Five Facebook page. Walkers are not eligible for awards and must walk on the walking course. They may do multiple loops for a longer walk. For safety reasons, the police do not want walkers on the race course where there is more traffic. Registration is non-refundable. This is a traditional fun family event!
CASH AWARDS: WILL BE HANDED OUT IF THE RACE HAS THE USUAL NUMBER OF RUNNERS AND IS IN PERSON. THERE ARE NO AWARDS IF THE RACE IS FORCED TO BECOME VIRTUAL.

Top 3 per division after the cash awards. Must be present to claim award. Awards will not be mailed. One award per person. The plan is to make the awards available for pick up from the award's table soon after finishing so you can get home to your Thanksgiving activities instead of having a lengthy awards ceremony.

Mass Audubon is committed to protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. At Mass Audubon's Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, programs serve people of all ages - from preschoolers and families to students and senior citizens.
